MY FACULTY

When i finished highschool, I decided to study at the university of Chile because I believed that it was the best university of Chile. Now, I don’t feel the same passion that I felt in that time, but I keep believing that although it has a loto f economical, administrative problema, it keep being a pluralist, research maker and demanding university. This was one of the reasons that i considered in my decision to be part of this study house. The second one was related with random. In the beggining I wanted to study law, but my score at PSU didn’t let me get inside of this career. Study Public Management was my second Choice, but i’m so happy to had have this decision, because I love my career, I feel very happy to study and read all the things that Ido, because I’m sure that it would be important to develop changes inside of the government and the way to create and evaluate public policies. My first impression when I started studyng there was surprising, because the school was very small, and old. At the beggining it seemed a kind of ugky for me, but with the time, i liked the ancient structure and it size, because you Could see all the people everywhere. My current school is small, but beautiful, andi t has an Amazing administrative staff, they are the best characteristic of our school. When I have Windows, I come back to my home, but when I stay at the school, I read some texts for classes, or stay at the playground talking with my friends. When I finish my caree I will miss my friends, my daily life worry about the books and the researchs, the parties, the interesting talkings, everything.

HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

Hello! Today I’m going to talk about the environment!

I think that people learn about environmentally friendly practices into their families, or into their schools, in a less level, they could learn through the media, I mean, through some propaganda or some social campaign of some green organization. In my case, I’m not used to participate or do green activities, for example, I don’t have incorporated recycling into my habits, I’m not pretty much concerned about it, sometimes I try to separate trash according to the trash can, if it has a title or something that say: wood, paper, glass, etc. I don’t use the bicycle, actually I don’t know how to ride it, but I like to walk, I walk from my home up to the school everyday, I love it! I think that I help to the environment just by case, because I don’t support any eco-organizations, because I don’t really interested about, not because I don’t believe that it is an important issue for the world, and for the governments, it’s just because I don’t feel passion about it. I think that I can be more sensitive about the topic, and maybe when I work, and I have more money, I can give some money for an eco-organization. I didn’t do anything conscious to reduce my carbon footprint, but after this post, I promise to do to something about it. Finally, if our society (specially Government and the formal institutions) didn’t consider this issue, it would missing a lot of improvements in terms of energy efficiency, nature care, and future environment resources that it going to be so important in our development as a country.

EUTHANASIA

When I think in euthanasia I think in a very difficult moment into a family. I think in an important and spiritual decision that someone has to take in relation with the “life” of someone else. I write “life” because the health conditions of people who are in some medical state that suggest the necessity to decide about the life prolongation through machine, that situation for me, it is not life. In this moment, I cannot remember any famous case of euthanasia but an image that come to my mind, is one of the most emotional scenes of the movie “million dollar baby”, when the protagonist ask to her coach that please help her to die. The debate about the euthanasia is main related with a value debate, and religion is an important element to consider. I am a catholic girl, I believe in god, but there are a lot of things about “the church’s rules” that I am not agree with. One of them is the position of the church about euthanasia. I agree with. The position of the social, religious and political institutions has a clue influence on the fact that euthanasia can consider as murder or as a tool to stop suffering people alive. Government should lead the debate about this topic, put it into its political agenda, and dialogue with the all actors involved. Only with a serious debate about it will help to disclose this complex topic.

WHAT MUSIC MEANS TO ME

Music is very important to me. It is everywhere; it has been across all my life. It is the memory –as a soundtrack- of my happiest and saddest life experiences. Music is my daily partner, it helps me to stop thinking, to be relaxed, to smile and keep walking.
I like rock-pop music, in English or Spanish, and also I like folk music, especially music from Andean cultures, but I don’t like heavy metal music, or music of that kind, at all. I don’t have just one favorite band or singer, but I have a top ten list of favorite bands, today a bands that I’ve listened a lot are The smiths and Jack Johnsons, and by the side of Chilean bands my favorite I have listened Astro and Denver, actually last Saturday I went to a concert of them. I love to go to concerts, now I’m pretty exciting about my future concerts: Morrisey’s and Artic Monkey’s. I used to download music from different web sites, and I looking for some new bands or singers at different blogs, magazines and radio, one of my favorite Chilean radios is Horizonte (103.3) I don’t sing very well, but I love to do it! Especially at karaokes, especially when I go out with some friends, at some bar like “constitucion bar” to have a funny time playing as a rockstar in the “kararocker”, which is like the common karaoke but with a rock band playing the music alive.
I think music is so important for people and culture, it is an amazing tool to express ideals, feelings, emotions, complains, and many other kind of human expressions.

A country I'd like to visit

For me, there are some staffs that I’m really interested about. Music, history, culture, people. Specially people. I’ve always thought that if you want to know a city or a country, you have to taking contact with someone who has lived or lives in that place. Moreover, if you want to walk into some interesting streets or go to a folk traditional concert, a “story teller” is always the best choice. Considering this, I mean, the human factor as an important tool to create amazing places from the experience to share with its people, I’d like to visit England, because since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated about its music culture, the cold-grey face of its streets and that kind of rock atmosphere that surrounds cities like London and Liverpool. If someday I can travel to Liverpool, I’d like to go to all the rock-and-roll bars, like The Cavern Club, and the inevitable photo with the Buckingham palace in London, hearing in my head the classic “good save the queen” of the Sex Pistols. Share with its people in all this places would be so amazing! Finally I’d love to study in London, maybe a few fears doing a post graduate program into an old and prestigious university like Oxford, Cambridge or the London of Economics School.

TV and Movies

I like movies. Specially on Sunday’s afternoon. For that reason I’m not used to go to the cinema or rent films. For me, the ideal scene is downloads movies from some web site as “cuevana” into the commodity of my bedroom. I have too many “favorites movies”, but one the most amazing for me is a movie called Blow up, a very underground English movie, it’s about a photographer who discover a murder when he develop a photo. I really love this movie because its photography is absolutely beautiful, the colors, the music, the characters, everything on it are so sophisticated and cool. I think that I have seen it like 10 times or a bit more and I obviously recommend it if you want to have a good time.
About the Chilean TV, I’m not a fan of it, but I usually see its program. I prefer the American one, because is funnier and creative than the Chilean one, and in terms of sensationalism and soups I think that they get it. Reality shows like Keeping up with the Kardashian are one of my favorites. And finally if someday someone decides to make a film about my life, I’d like that my film would be a comedy-drama, and hope you can laugh and cry a lot!
